Dutch naturists, Anita and Ferry, have recently taken over the running of this back-to-nature retreat on the Caribbean island of Bonaire – Dos Iguana Nature. With a clothing-optional policy throughout the 20 hectares (50 acres) of rustic grounds, accommodation is available in two-person self-catering chalets. There is a small pool and deck with fine views to the sea in the distance. It is less than a quarter of an hour from the airport and free transfers are provided.

Lydia has been in touch to tell us about the upscale clothing-optional resort she runs with her husband on the Caribbean island of St Martin. Jardin d’Ô began offering naturist holidays just 18 months ago and now receives much positive feedback from guests. The adult retreat has five attractive self-contained accommodation units as well as a pool, and is only 5 minutes’ drive from the famous nude beach at Orient Bay (World’s Best Nude Beaches page 30).

This handy website lists a collection of villa rentals and condos on the Caribbean island of St Martin/St Maarten, suitable for private sunbathing and ‘friends of naturism‘. The holiday properties allow either topless or au naturel relaxation with private pools and sundecks which can be enjoyed in the buff without being overlooked.

At this private and secluded beachfront cabana, hosts, Antonio and Cuca, provide a refuge surrounded by nature. They invite guests to experience the freedom of hanging around by the seashore or sunbathing on the beach in the nude, in an environment of respect and warmth. There is a small dipping pool and the accommodation includes a double bedroom, a private bathroom and an equipped kitchen. Villa del Señor is located off the Colima-Manzanillo toll highway at Km. 69.5.

The clothing-optional Zipolite beach, in the Mexican State of Oaxaca, now has a hotel where it’s also OK to go bare. Theresa O’Shea, writing in H&E naturist, alerted us to this on-the-beach rustic accommodation at ‘Hotel Nude‘. Zipolite is somewhat off the beaten track to access. And rip currents make the sea dangerous – but nonetheless, it’s a stunning place to commune with nature. The location is described in World’s Best Nude Beaches (page 37).

Playa Chihuahua at Punta del Este already features in ‘The World’s Best Nude Beaches‘ (page 45), but last year a brand new upscale resort opened at the beach. The 4-star Hotel Chihuahua has various room types, including a number of suites; and is available to book through numerous global travel agencies. This is a new location to us. Situated on the north coast of the island only a short drive from Gregorio Luperon International Airport (Puerto Plata), near the village of Cabarete – the Casa Roma Hotel offers a range of accommodation, catering and an attractive swimming pool. Set a short distance inland, and according to the website: ‘The nearest beach is wild, natural and beautiful. It is easy to find private spots in the sun or enjoy a quick swim in the ocean. La Boca is at the east end of our nearest beach.’

The heated infinity pool at this luxurious vacation home is described as ‘completely private, yet has the best views of the beach and bay in all of Puerto Vallarta.’ It is said to be ‘perfect for skinny-dipping day or night.’ The Beachhouse sleeps just 2, and has direct access to the resort’s private beach.

A three-bedroomed villa in Kamay, a residential neighbourhood in the Palm Beach section of Aruba, which has a completely private tropical garden and pool. The attractive outdoor space and pool are ideal for relaxing and swimming as nature intended. The nearby (textile) beach is a short walk.

Helene and Paul have been in touch to tell us about their new clothing-optional mini-resort and boat trips on the Caribbean island of Curacao. ‘The Natural‘ caters mostly for naturists and – so that there’s no misunderstanding – the owners make it clear there is a complete absence of ‘erotic parties’. In fact, peace and quiet is the order of the day. Accommodation is in attractive apartments, bungalows and a house. Curacao became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands in October 2010, following a change of constitutional status which dissolved the Netherlands Antilles.

The Clothing Optional Resort in Nosara, Costa Rica, offers attractive studios and two-bedroom condos, each with kitchen and private patio / balcony, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The all au naturel retreat opens for its second season next month, on 10th February, 2012. Situated on top of a hill above Playa Pelada, with impressive vistas and cooling breezes – privacy, peace and quiet are the order of the day.

This eco-friendly one-bedroomed property at Lubbers Quarters Cay, off the island of Abaco in the Bahamas, would suit anyone seeking a Robinson Crusoe lifestyle. Moonrise Cottage has its own private clothes-optional beach. The owner says the accommodation is a naturists’ delight!

According to their website, ‘N’ is a new resort for those who appreciate an all natural experience in the Caribbean. Opened in November 2010, the 96-room all inclusive property has a 1,000-foot white sand beachfront. The destination was previously known as FDR Pebbles and is located close the former Lido Braco clothes-optional resort, about 35 minutes’ drive from Montego Bay.

Bare Necessities Tour and Travel, based in Austin Texas,  have been successfully organising luxury naturist cruises for more than 20 years. Last week the company announced its latest venture – a record-breaking voyage for 3,000 nudists, taking place in February 2013, on board the ‘Carnival Freedom’. Sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the eight-day itinerary will take in Cozumel, Mexico, Lima in Costa Rica and Colon in Panama, with side tours to the famous canal available. Set on the north coast of the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic, Cambium is a new naturist lifestyle and holiday destination currently under construction. Occupying 176 acres of lush tropical scenery backed by the Cordilera Septentrional mountain range: there are ocean views from many parts of the site. The nearby beach at Playa Magante is about 3 km away and has a quiet “nude-friendly” area at one end of the bay. Work began in autumn 2010, and with good transport connections from the UK, Europe and the USA it is expected to become a popular clothes-optional community. Opportunities currently exist for investors wishing to build their own property at Cambium.

Enthusiastic naturist André Araújo of Brazilian travel company, Velocitas, has been in touch to advise that his firm can make travel arrangements for visitors to Rio de Janeiro which include time at the renowned Abricó nudist beach. Mak Nuk Village, Tulum, Mexico is scheduled to open in Spring/Summer 2010 as an upscale naturist aparthotel with condos for sale and rent. The development is well under way and is located not far from stunning beaches, some of which are clothes-optional.

Set in five hectares, Chacara Colina dos Ventos, is a rapidly expanding naturist resort in tropical north-east Brazil. Situated 15 minutes from the world famous *Tambaba nude beach, the extensive property offers a choice of all-inclusive, half board and B&B accommodation. Resort website in Portuguese. Valerie has been in touch to advise that Decameron Club Caribbean, at Runaway Bay on the north coast of Jamaica, no longer has a clothes-optional area on the beach. The resort is now completely textile.
