Bnatural naturism & Glamping is the first resort of its type on the Etruscan Coast in Tuscany, 3 km from the naturist beach of Rimigliano, also called FKK Nido dell’aquila (World’s Best Nude Beaches page 228) and the Gulf of Baratti. Accommodation is offered in elegant ready-erected maxi-lounge lodge tents. There are also pitches for self-caterers with their own tents, caravans or campers.

News reaches us of a new official naturist beach on the Italian island of Elba – Acquarilli, at Lacona. Detailed directions on the ‘Italia Naturista’ website. Approved by the local authority in 2015, the beach is remote and currently without facilities, so take shade and refreshments. Location GPS: Lat: N42.763524, Long: E10.334364.

An appealing new au naturel destination in the Puglia district of southern Italy – Resort Grottamiranda Naturista – has recently come to our attention. With a selection of different sized apartments and a large free form pool, the property is just 7 km from the nearest naturist beach. The sunny Mediterranean climate and close proximity of 2 world-renowned UNESCO sites is sure to make Grottamiranda a popular choice.

Casa del Pastore is a naturist-friendly guesthouse in a quiet rural area near the village of Gambassi Terme, in Tuscany. The house was built in 2010 and is surrounded by a large garden with private pool and Jacuzzi. There are two bedrooms and  4 – 6 guests can be accommodated. Privacy and panoramic views are on offer, and the property is described on the website as ‘exceptional for nudists‘.

Casale Terranera claims to be the first naturist agritourism venture associated with the Italian Naturist Federation (FENAIT) and is situated in the popular Tuscany region. The 40-acre organic farm offers a holiday home for rental and is described as a relaxing natural place, in a wild environment. There are two swimming pools, a sauna and tennis courts for guests to use. Additionally trekking on the farm’s horses is on offer and there are hot springs nearby. Visitors can also bring their own tent and pitch up. The property is by the village of Montenero and close to Montalcino and Mount Amiata.

Immersed in a Mediterranean forest and with views of the Tuscan archipelago, the Locanda di Terramare provides relaxing naturist holidays. With five bedrooms, the ancient farmhouse apparently encompasses the owners’ passion for nature, calm, well-being and culture. Breakfast is served in an attractive glass conservatory or in the garden. Access to a ‘wellness area’ is included, and the property is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from the coast.

A picturesque textile guesthouse – La Corte degli Elfi (Place of the Elves) –  in the Dolomites that has a fully-naturist wellness spa and a good-sized nude sunbathing garden. The property enjoys fine mountain views and offers a range of nature; cultural; spiritual; and adventure programmes.

Camping Sangro by the Adriatic coast at Torino di Sangro, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, is offering a naturist season from 8 June to 20 July, 2014. A beach widely used for bare bathing is 3km from the campsite. Bungalows and mobile homes are available for those who prefer not to camp with their own equipment.

Freelance Holidays, based in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK, have identified no less than 43 holiday properties with private pools in their portfolio that have been assessed as naturist-friendly.

Bas and Domenica, from the Netherlands, are the proud owners of the Sasso Corbo eco-campsite. With their four young sons, they say they dreamt of having a naturist place in a foreign country, which has now become a reality. The 23-hectare site, complete with swimming pool and a range of other facilities is at Semproniano in Tuscany. A ready-erected tent is available to hire for anybody without their own equipment.

The naturist campsite Costalunga is close to the town of Sassello (Savona) and next to the Beigua Natural Regional Park (recognised by UNESCO). It is located in Liguria – famous for its ancient history, traditions and cuisine.  Hawks, deer and roe deer are frequently seen by visitors. The resort provides a convivial and informal environment, and is ideal families: common meals are organised each evening and everyone is invited.

The small but pretty naturist camping Ca’ le Scope is 500 metres above sea level, and surrounded by chestnuts, oaks, fig-trees and heather. Located at S. Martino, La Quercia, Marzabotto – it makes a handy base for visiting a wide choice of historically important places including: Bologna, Florence, Pisa, Modena, Verona, Vicenza, Venice, Ravenna and Siena.

The upmarket Villa Hibiscus offers three apartments built on the cliff-top at Positano, on the famous Amalfi coast. And, remarkably, the property has an elevator to its own tiny beach, custom-designed for secluded skinny dipping, according to the owner’s website.

Dutch owners, Johanna Noyon and her husband Ton van Schaik, rent two holiday cottages on the borders of the Liguria and Piedmont regions of Italy that are suitable for naturists. The estate is 35km from the Mediterranean coast. Mulino is a former mill that was restored in 2011 and sleeps from two to six people, whilst the Rustico cottage has two bedrooms. Both secluded properties have shared use of the family swimming pool.

The Villaggio del Sole naturist eco-village is located on the hills of the Low Monferrato Astigiano region, and has extensive grounds of 35,000 sq metres.  Operated as an international community project through the naturist association AssoNatura, where people share the concept of creating an ecological naturist environment – living is sustainable, slow, natural and happy! It’s in a private site with attractive gardens and offers guests: camping, bungalow accommodation and B&B. The old farmhouse, which dates back more than a century, has been fully restored.

Casa il Cantico is a naturist mini-agriturismo situated on the northflank of the Promontorio del Gargano in the region Puglia in the south-east of Italy. A holiday apartment is available to rent and camping is offered in the orchard close to the large swimming pool. The owners say the property is suited for people who enjoy tranquility, space and privacy.

According to recent media reports in Italy and the UK, the attractive and long-used nude beach at Lido di Dante (World’s Best Nude Beaches – page 230) is being closed by the Mayor. Fabrizio Matteucci has told nudists to make themselves decent or risk a €50 euro fine.

Zello Oasis is aimed at health-conscious naturists. Accommodation is available in an agricamping area (staying in a tent, camper, caravan, apartment, mini-service flat or private room), or in the clubhouse at the Villaggio della Salute Più (consisting of 6 country houses with private rooms and an apartment). The 30-hectare retreat is four-hundred metres above sea level and is situated not far from – and to the south of – the Italian city of Bologna.

Molino di Cima lies in a chestnut-wooded valley below the medieval hill town of Coreglia Antelminelli, at the foothills of the Garfagnana mountains. The 2-bedroomed ancient mill house cottage faces lush meadows and is set in 25 acres of grounds. There is large swimming pool and according to the owner: ‘with plenty of privacy, it’s suitable for naturists‘. Il Camino is a neighboring three bedroomed cottage.
